muri

A Japanese term (無理) meaning “unreasonableness; impossible; beyond one's power; too difficult; by force; perforce; forcibly; compulsorily; excessiveness; immoderation.” Muri is a key removal-of-waste concept (along with Muda and Mura) in lean manufacturing that focuses on reducing overburden. Muri generates unnecessary stress to our employees and our processes. Muri can be avoided through standardized work. See also muda, mura.
