genba

A Japanese term (現場) meaning “the real place,” or more practically, the place where value is created. When practicing genchi genbutsu (“go and see for yourself”) the genba is the place you go because it is there that the real work is performed and you can get a firsthand, accurate account of what is really going on. Note: “genba” is sometimes written in English as “gemba.” See also genchi genbutsu.
